Our Group managed to absorb the effects of the economic crisis felt across all sectors comparatively well. The adjusted EBIT generated by the MVV Energie Group in the 2008/09 financial year amounted to Euro 239 million and were thus slightly lower (– 4 %) than in the previous year (Euro 249 million). Despite the economic crisis, we thus managed to meet the earnings forecast provided in last year’s group management report. The marginal year-on-year decline in adjusted EBIT was chiefly due to the electricity and environmental energy segments. The reasons for the decline in segment earnings are outlined here.
